How to Clean the Inside of Your Wolf Oven
The outside of a Wolf range is undeniably a work of art. The stainless steel exterior is sleek while sturdy, and offers any kitchen a high-end appeal and professional flair. Cleaning the outside of your Wolf range is important of course, but the inside of the oven needs some love too. Give your oven that newly-delivered feeling and get busy detailing in the inside of your Wolf oven.
Wolf ovens have two different interiors depending on the model. The Wolf gas range has a black porcelain interior coating, and the Wolf wall ovens have a blue porcelain coating in the interior. Both cleaning processes are similar, with a few minor tweaks which we will outline here.
- Step 1: First things first. Remove the oven racks before cleaning. Now, you need to remove any baked-on food or crusty residue that is in the oven cavity or on the window of the oven. Grab your trusty razor blade to VERY gently scrape off tough-to-remove food particles from the interior walls and window. After you’ve done this, use a damp cloth to wipe away any loose debris and dispose of it.
- Step 2: Splattered grease and sauces can be a pain to clean off, especially if you have used the oven several times without wiping the inside surface clean. For difficult to remove stains, use a spray degreaser or mild surface cleaner to help dissolve and wipe away stubborn grease spots. Try a degreaser like Pledge or Formula 409 to loosen up caked-on gunk.
- Step 3: Now that you have your splatters sprayed down, scrub those tough-to-clean stains with a no-scratch scrubbing pad like Scotch-Brite so you don’t scratch or damage the interior of your Wolf oven. Once you’ve gently scrubbed all the stains and splatters away, you can wash away the debris with warm soapy water and a clean cloth to remove any remaining chemicals.
- Step 4: While it isn’t required, you may want to finish off with a Wolf recommended signature polish to really make the interior of your Wolf oven shine and give it that glossy finish.
*Wolf Self-Cleaning Feature Explained
The self-cleaning feature is only available on Wolf ovens that have the blue porcelain interior. Black interiors don’t have this option, but there is a work-around. Be careful as to not damage your oven in this process. For the blue porcelain interiors, refer to your user’s manual for self-cleaning instructions. For the black porcelain ovens, here is the alternative. First, remove all of the oven racks and clean them separately using warm soapy water, set to the side. Heat your oven to 500°F and allow it to bake off all of the debris for two hours. Turn your oven off after two hours and allow it to fully cool, at least 3 hours with the door closed, before you remove the ash and debris with a warm damp cloth. Allow to dry and then replace clean oven racks.
Wolf Oven Interior Cleaning Tips
There are a few things you will want to keep in mind when cleaning your Wolf oven, so you are educated on how to properly care for your Wolf appliance.
- Don’t let stains linger if you can help it, especially foods with high sugar or acid content. That means fruit juices, tomato sauces, and milk. This can create a permanent dull spot on the porcelain interior if not cleaned off promptly.
- Always make sure to allow the porcelain surface to cool before touching it with a damp cloth or cold sponge. The abrupt change in surface temperature could cause the porcelain to form hairline cracks and may result in chipping.
- For Wolf ovens with the blue porcelain cavity, Wolf warns against using steam cleaners on the interior.
