Wolf ovens feature a high-quality construction. For the most part, maintaining them is quite simple. But to keep your oven fresh and working as it did when first installed, you’ll need to follow a few simple procedures. Here are some essential tips for maintaining your Wolf oven.

Clean the Exterior Every Day

Stainless steel surfaces should be cleaned daily to prevent a buildup of grease and food debris. For best results, use a lint-free or microfiber cloth. A degreasing cleaner or stainless steel cleaner and polish are effective. If you choose not to clean the oven every day, do so at least every week or month (depending on how often you use it).

When cleaning your Wolf oven, apply the degreaser first. Let it sit until the grease breaks down, then wipe the compound away. If using a spray solution, don’t spray it directly onto the display head or other electronics. Instead, apply the cleaner to a cloth and wipe it in the same direction as the grain. To avoid streaking, maintain contact with the surface as you clean.

Clean Oven Spills Right Away

Wait for the oven to cool and then immediately clean up the spill. If the spill contains sugar or acid, it can permanently dull the surface. Don’t put aluminum foil at the bottom to catch spills; it will disrupt air and heat flow; food will then cook unevenly.

If the oven has a porcelain interior, use only a mild detergent and a soft, mildly abrasive sponge. For steel interiors, use a lint-free or microfiber cloth and stainless steel cleaner.

Use the Self-Cleaning Feature

The self-clean feature is especially useful for heavier spills. If foods are baked on the oven cavity surface and window, gently lift them with a razor blade (first, wait for the unit to cool for six hours). A mild abrasive cleaner or spray degreaser can be applied to stubborn stains. Then wipe them with a no-scratch pad.

How you run the self-cleaning cycle depends on the oven model. Follow the user manual for specific steps, but this mode is generally activated by using the “Clean” button or knob, and then pressing “Start” or “Enter”.

Open a kitchen window or turn on a range vent before running a cleaning cycle. The oven can generate smoke and foul odors during the process. The exterior of the oven may become hot, so keep children and pets away. For a black porcelain Wolf oven that doesn’t have a self-cleaning option, follow the steps above for cleaning it by hand. You can also simulate a self-clean function by:

  • Removing the racks.
  • Turning the unit up to 500℉
  • Leaving the oven on for two hours.

Then, wait for it to cool, with the door closed, and then use soap and water to wipe down the interior.

Inspect the Burners for Damage

Coil burners operate under extreme conditions that can eventually damage them. If they continue to be used, additional burner components may be damaged and the oven may not function properly. Replacing defective burners is a cost-effective way to maintain your Wolf oven and prevent more extensive damage.

Take Safety Precautions

Wolf ovens are inherently reliable and safe to use. But you could risk injury if you don’t clean one properly. To protect yourself in the process:

  • Unplug the appliance when cleaning it to avoid possible electrocution.
  • Clean the knobs carefully to avoid exposing electrical components to water.
  • If you have a gas oven, use extreme caution when replacing the gas.
